EARLY UNIVERSE
Cosmic Dawn
The era when the first generations of stars and galaxies began illuminating a universe that had previously contained no starlight. The exact timing and details remain active research topics.
DESTINATION TYPE // SPACE
Observe real astronomical phenomena through fictional CROSSiNGS access systems designed to keep the science and the transportation claim separate.
HOW TO READ THIS GUIDE
ESTABLISHED labels mainstream astronomy. RESEARCH marks active scientific questions. CROSSiNGS MODEL is the fictional mechanism that lets a traveler witness something current technology cannot reach.
EARLY UNIVERSE
The era when the first generations of stars and galaxies began illuminating a universe that had previously contained no starlight. The exact timing and details remain active research topics.
STELLAR NURSERIES
Dense regions within molecular clouds can collapse under gravity. As a protostar forms and its core becomes hot and dense enough, sustained hydrogen fusion can begin.
PLANETARY SYSTEMS
Young stars are surrounded by disks of gas and dust. Within them, material can aggregate into planetesimals and eventually planets, moons and smaller bodies.
EXTREME GRAVITY
Regions where gravity is strong enough that, inside the event horizon, outward-directed paths cannot escape to the wider universe. CROSSiNGS observation products never imply ordinary survivable proximity.
STELLAR ENDINGS
Some stars end in violent explosions; others shed outer layers or collapse into compact remnants. The outcome depends strongly on stellar mass and evolutionary history.
DEEP FUTURE
Cosmology can model enormously distant futures under stated assumptions, but details depend on unresolved physics and the long-term behavior of cosmic expansion, matter and compact objects.
CROSSiNGS MODEL
CROSSiNGS does not reinterpret astronomical distance as ordinary flight time. In-world access may use remote observation, nonlocal presence, temporal placement or mediated embodiment depending on the product.
Conventional astronomical distance is not a useful estimate of CROSSiNGS travel time.
Boundary: the astronomical object or event is real; the CROSSiNGS access method is fictional.
PRESENCE OPTIONS
For dangerous or non-survivable environments, observation is usually more honest than pretending a body can stand nearby.
Instrument-mediated experience with no local embodiment.
Destination-compatible synthetic presence where interaction is useful and permitted.
Placement relative to an event without intervention authority.
Fictional mediated access when ordinary physical presence has no sensible meaning.
